888-322-2785I keep getting phone calls from 888-322-2785 at all times of the day. I never pick up, and they hang up on my answering machine every time. Google searches seem to indicate it’s associated with an online gambling operation, but even there, nailing down which one it is is difficult. I have heard that telemarketing firms are calling homes with machines, and then just recording if a human picks up. Then, they have a sense of what time you’re home, and they sell that information to others. That may be what’s going on here. Anyway, they call so damn much, several times a day sometimes, I’m tempted to change my home number. Surely, someone must have some insight as to who actually owns this damned number. Anyone??? UPDATE: It looks like the gambling website is www.mi11iondo11arboy.com (numbers inserted to confuse search engines). The idea is that you’ll look up the number on the Internet and see who it is, then gamble. I’m filing a complaint with the FTC. |

I’ve been getting the same calls for about a month now. Every time I see the number on the caller-ID, I feel like screaming! I’ve reported every instance to the FTC, but still receive the calls (at all times of day, sometimes twice, as you mentioned). I hope something is done about this soon.

I have been getting calls from this number, too, so I checked google and found your comment. Since the number has not been identified, I called it on my cell phone. You get a recording telling you it’s Discover Card and they tried calling me to tell me about one of their products and if I want to talk to someone about it, press some number (at which point I hung up). I have a card with them and they do call sometimes when they have a promotion – I think the last one they had was bonus reward points if I purchased something at a home improvement store.

I suggest everyone get the device or computer program called the call zapper. It works great I use the computer program version. You load the program, connect your phone line to your modem, and start adding names or numbers or both, to your block list. Next time that name or number calls, the device, or the program blocks the call after just one ring. Pretty soon, the automated dialing computers take you off their list and then just try your number every once in a while. It is worth every penny.
